Our first show of the year had good results and a fantastic time was had by everyone..

Only 1 blip and that was Glenlough Persuasion decided she didn't like doing workers after all and put the brakes on at the first jump lol..

She did however redeem herself in her other classes achieving a 1st in M & M First ridden with Amelia Wheeler & also with Amelia 3rd Novice M & M First ridden,,She then went on to lift a 2nd & Res Champion in hand, she then went back to the ridden doing the opens with Heather Steele being placed 1st Shetland, Dartmoor & Exmoor class ..We decided 8 wks ago to send Robin's Brae Thor of to start his Ridden Career, which culminated in his first outing at the biggest show in Ireland, and he was fantastic, He competed in 2 classes he was unplaced in his novice M & M class but behaving and going beautifully, he then went into a open Shetland, Dartmoor & Exmoor and was placed 2nd. this qualified both shetlands for the evening performance were they were un placed but got the loudest cheer & applaud of the night..

Our 1 and only foal of the year was born this evening a lovely black filly called Ronelle Pollyanna by Glenlough Penny x Gola Prospero....All doing well

We have had a very good start to the show season with some of our new ponies...First out was Glenlough Persuasion at the N.P.S. Spring show on 7:4:12 she was entered in the M&M small breeds 4+ and was placed 7th, she then went into the shetland mare class and was placed 1st & res champion, then went on to win the res champion challenge which in turn qualified her for the in hand supreme were she acceived 2nd res champion. Our other pony at that show was Creevelea Serafina, this was her first ever show and she was 2nd welsh part bred & 3rd show pony youngstock. Marcus of Hools was out as well placed 2nd in the lead rein class ridden by Miss Katie Bell and also 1st shetland gelding.

The ponies have also been to various other events such as forest rides and practice rides all thouroughly enjoyed by both ponies and riders.

We have some very exciting new shetlands at the stud and we are really looking forward to there first shows....

We are pleased to annouce that Gordon has now passed his stallion evaluation..This was not as straight forward as we thought it was going to be because when his DNA was sent of, it came to light that he was Burnside Lennon and NOT Mill Of Towie Gordon....I cannot praise the SPSBS enough because it was through a lot of hard work, effort and 5 long months from Pauline that we finally were able to trace his true parentage...

Gordon is going to retain his pet name, but he is now registered as Burnside Lennon

We also have another new direction which is our cob Bobby-jack, who on his first outing was 7th out of 16 in the workers and 4th out of 10 in the show ridden class. We are over the moon with him and also with Ryan Anderson who has done a brillant job with Bobby-jack...

The shetlands have being doing well over the winter...We have some very nice youngstock coming up...And Marcus of hools and Katie have been been coming on great, they seem to love each other which makes for a great we team....

Here's hoping for a very exciting show season in 2012......

In November we had some new arrivals, Churchmeadow Athena, and Haywards Lasting Impression, Our 2 New forest foals and Creevelea Sweet Thing, who is to be joined soon by Creevelea Seraphina our Part breds, we look forward to learning all about these wonderful ponies......

Both these ponies have joined our stud this week. Hildasay Sara a 6 month old foal has made the long journey from the shetland Isles and has a wonderful nature, she is by Musselbrough Keltic x Hildasay orla ..Hedderwick Top Class a yearling colt by Hedderwick Romeo x Wells Tyrene, arrived from Aberdeen and will hopefully run on to become a licence stallion...Bobbyjack a black & white cob also arrived 2 weeks ago, hes something a little different for our stud, He is a 4 year old cob bred by us and sold as a foal, Bobby has gone of to start his training and will hopefully come out under saddle for next year...

Had a great day at the Shetland performance day ran by N.I.S.P.G., Took Marcus of Hools and he managed to jump 85 in the In Hand Puissance, He completed inhand jumping with Todd, and 3 rounds of Handy pony with Nichola, Todd & Katie, then went on to do Long reining with John. The kids had games and face paints and then we had tea/coffee and time for relaxing with a bit of craic...Great day all round, looking forward to the next one...

What a lovely show saintfield horse & pony show is, loads of fun things, the donkey fancy dress was brillant..
There was 2 classes and a championship for the shetlands.
Youngstock shetland had 5 entries and we were ever so pleased with yarpha Quest winning first time out since a foal...
and in the 4+Shetland Glenlough penny was 1st and CHAMPION, & Marcus of hools shown by Todd was 2nd and took res Champion
Katie was out today again on her wee Marcus and after a nasty fall outside the ring, got back on and was 6th in a well filled class and was ever so pleased with her lovely pink rosette WELL DONE KATIE...

Had a lovely day out at Londonderry & Limavady show..Glenlough penny was the winner of a strong mare class and also the winner of the Trophy for best reg. mare 4+....Marcus of hools was 3rd in the gelding class. He was 4th young handler with nichola and res. champion (seniors)......and wee katie done her first young handler class and was 5th with penny .....

Wat a day.... could only decribe it as brillant......1st mare class with GLENLOUGH PENNY and shetland champion handled by Michelle Cumberland. It was michelle's first show in over a year so a very nice comeback for her.
Then it was MILL OF TOWIE GORDON 1st 4+ male and reserve champion handled by John Cumberland.
We also had MARCUS OF HOOLS out today in his first class lead rein under 5 years he was 4th out of 9, and in the 2nd class lead rein under 7 years he was 4th again out of another large class....Ridden very nicely by Miss Katie Bell, also 4th in hand handled by Connie Cumberland.
Connie had her own 2 year old GLENKEE DUNCAN out in the youngstock and gained a very respectable 3rd place....Over the moon with Ronelle's results today...

As we finally get some good weather, the stud foals have all arrived and are now enjoying playing out in the fields. We have 2 fillies and a colt, 2 of which are to be retained.

Mill of towie Gordon has continued his winnig ways. having brought home a championship and 4 res. champion rosettes...We would have liked to have entered him on the shetland leagues but although applied for he has yet to go through his vve and dna which makes him ineligible..but off course next year is a new year....

We have had a fairly successful year showing, but rosettes and prizes mean very little this year as we lost our most valued mare Glenlough Nicole, we all miss her greatly and she has left a gaping big hole in our stud...

Aero as he is known at home passed his v.v.e. today with flying colours...His stable mate mill of towie gordon has now to go through his as well...

Today has been a very sad day for all at Ronelle, we lost Glenlough Nicole, she was a mare in a million, Nicole had a very hard foaling which resulted in the foal being born dead. She seemed to be recovering well when she fitted and died from shock. Nicole although only being 6 years old had achieved a lot she was the winner of our first championship and the first filly bought as foundation for our stud. She was a real lady with any young child and done lead rein and driving. We will miss her always. RIP Nicole..

SPRING NEWS  -  10:4:11

Our 3 new purchases have arrived from the Scheihallion stud in the Shetland Isles, we are really pleased with them and a big thank-you has to go to Jackie Symes for keeping the over the winter months, also to Miranda Mcdonald for lifting and keeping them, of the ferry from the shetland isles until the haulier collected them in Aberdeen.

For our first show this year we left the shetlands at home and brought out the new forest 2 year old. He behaved very well for his first time out and came home with a 4 th place in the Youngstock M&M class.

We are now awaiting the arrival of our foals, the first of which are due in the next week or so, pictures and details will be posted as they arrive hopefully all safely.
